Function 3

Function 3 integrates IPBES and IPCC findings into EU decision-making, focusing on knowledge uptake by non-environmental Directorates-General and other EU bodies. It collaborates with entities like KCBD, BioAgora, Biodiversa+, and JPI Climate to incorporate these findings into science service mechanisms and knowledge flows. Function 3 analyzes policy coherence between EU climate and biodiversity targets and IPBES and IPCC findings. It develops engagement formats for the private sector and standards for EU-funded projects to enhance the evidence base of EU biodiversity and climate policy. Additionally, Function 3 co-develops an action agenda with EU partners to ensure ongoing collaboration and provides negotiator support to EU delegations at IPBES and IPCC plenaries and relevant MEA negotiations.
